Has anybody seen my tambourine?

This weekend we got creative with food! It was our annual Worst Witch Halloween Party. We had a plethora of themed food including yummy mummies (pigs in a blanket), devil eyes (green dyed deviled eggs), goblin fingers (ham rolls with red cream cheese), witch's brew (chicken dip), eye see you cupcakes (alien eye cupcakes), and zombie brains (sherbet punch with a flavored ice brain). Dinner was followed by watching the best Halloween movie ever- The Worst Witch. Then we ate some more sugar and while on a sugar rush had a dance party to beat all dance parties. It was a great evening and gave us a chance to be creative with something we could eat.

Delayed but still grateful

Sunday's craft blitz was a success, unfortunately, a migraine came on after the fun day and so it has taken me awhile to recover. With the help of Nancy, Jules, Tracy, Candice, and Nicki we were able to make 20 bottles of scented lotion, 20 jars of bath salts, 12 decorative door hangings, and 11 pairs of fleece socks. All of these items will be included in gift baskets that will go to the women I work with in a transitional housing program for our annual retreat. I can't wait to see the women's reactions when they get their gift baskets.

The group (Candice, Jules, Tracy) hard at work making door hangings.
Mom (Nancy) with a whole system set up to make lotions and bath salts.
Nicki making socks. She's smiling still because it was before she found out I cut all of the fabric the wrong way.
 The finished products!!!

How do I rotate photos?

Friends to the Rescue

Today is going to be a busy day at the "good enough for jen" house. A group of family and friends will be heading over shortly ready to help an overwhelmed lady. They will be helping me with creating gifts that will be given to women in a transitional housing program. On today's schedule we have bath salts, body lotion, fleece socks, and paper crafting. It's going to be an exciting day and I will post pictures of finished projects for everyone to enjoy.

Some Odd Girl Stamps Blog: Black and White Colored Image Challenge!

I was just starting to grasp the concept of coloring stamped images to create more depth and then I saw this! I really want to learn how to make black and white shaded images. I wonder too if you could do something in sepia to make the image look more antiqued.....
I guess I will be adding this to my bucket list because I don't see myself having enough time in the near future.

Some Odd Girl Stamps Blog: Black and White Colored Image Challenge!: Morning crafters and Oddies! Congrats again to our Sketch Challenge winners, you can see them on yesterdays post. Such fantabulous entries...

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas

Even though I think it's absurd that stores already have Christmas merchandise out, I am already starting my Christmas gift making for this year. I will be doing a variety of projects and trying my hand at canning even. My goal is for myself and my daughter to make a gift for everyone this year. So far it looks like 6 people will be getting apple butter. I wonder who the lucky ones will be!

I'm thinking that each weekend I need to choose a different medium to work with and focus solely on that. I will try to post pictures of things but I don't want to ruin a Christmas surprise for anybody that might be following this blog.

This weekend I will be focusing on sewing. Last year was pillows. I wonder what it will be this year......

Umm, not getting this

Ok, so I have been dinking around with this blog tonight and I still can't get a picture to load for my avatar. What do I need to do to get a real picture up?

Taking the leap

I have finally been convinced to start a blog. In all honesty, before this weekend I didn't even know what a blog was and thought I wouldn't have anything interesting to say on it anyway. I would like to thank my friend Tara for breaking through my stubbornness and having me try something new in the technology world. The projects I work on are never perfect but it is such a wonderful feeling to create, I hope that others see my ventures and that it gets their creative juices flowing and inspires them to take their own leap.
